My first contact with my son

There is a precious story I have been holding close to my heart for many years.

Now that I am six months pregnant with our son, it feels like the right time to share it.

This is the story of the day our son first introduced himself to me.

This is the story of the day I knew I would one day be the mother of a baby boy.

Back in 2019, I was driving through Moss Landing on my way to work in Santa Cruz. It was an ordinary day. I was alone in my truck, listening to music as I drove along the coast.

Then, suddenly, a clear telepathic voice spoke to me.

"Hi, Mom."

My jaw dropped.

A wave of love washed over me.

I remember my eyes widening, goosebumps rising on my arms, and my hands gripping the steering wheel tighter.

Mom?…Me?!

The voice continued:

"I'm your son. I am a water protector. By age seven, my voice will be well known. You're going to meet my dad soon, and you will be together for a very long time."

And then the voice left.

It was gone.

Just like that.

I sat there, still driving, in complete awe.

Beneath the surprise was something even stronger: a deep sense of knowing.

A knowing that felt like a divine and holy assignment.

I felt aligned in a way I had never experienced before.

There was excitement in my body.

There was a deep sense of honor and respect for this little one, and a golden thread of trust in the mystery that seemed to arrive out of nowhere.

I was going to be a mother.

I was going to meet his father soon.

A month or two later, life unfolded exactly as he said it would.

Chris and I finally found our way into orbit together. We fell deeply in love and fast. In 2025, we finally got married.

Now, as I sit here with this little baby boy growing inside my womb, I find myself returning to that moment on the highway with immense gratitude, awe, and wonder.

When I think about him introducing himself as a water protector, I feel something deep and ancient stir within my heart.

I feel a tenderness that is difficult to put into words.

The fact that a soul would choose to come here at this moment in history, with love for the waters of our Earth and a desire to serve life in some way, fills me with both humility and hope.

I do not know exactly what he meant.

I do not know whether his voice will be well known by age seven.

Those parts belong to the mystery.

What I do know is that long before I ever saw motherhood on my horizon, he found a way to say hello and whisper that he and his father were already making their way toward me.

Ever since that day in 2019, I have carried a deep respect for the soul that is arriving.

I am so excited to meet him.

I am so excited for all of us to meet him and be changed by him.

With deep humility, trust, appreciation, wonder, and love,

Mom
